Happy birthday Lola!

Lola's last birthday (July 15 2008)

July 15, 1944 was the date when the life of a true and loving mother started. She was given the name “Memoria” which means the memory of the World War II and later on became also the symbol for her knowledge and wisdom, and it became more evident as she shared this gift to a lot of people.
She was the second among the Gasacao siblings. She was not just a typical “ate” that we always connote, but a loving, forgiving and patient sister. And these traits made her an “ulirang ina at asawa” to her family, as years have passed. But when her husband died, this struggle didn’t make her stop the race but instead made her stronger to face more challenges as she played the role of being a mother and a father to her four little children. As time goes by, her children were now settled to different families of their own. And later on, she was already called as “Lola” by her 7 grandchildren.
On April 9, 2009, a new member of the family was born, Nena Liit, daughter of Lola’s youngest son. The night of the same day, Lola bid us goodbye. She might have just waited for her granddaughter.
I may say that we have to be proud that God gave us Lola for she was more than a mother to us. First, she established a free tutorial center exclusively for us. She was our tutor who made our reviewers and projects.  Second, she was a great chef working in our house, cooking the best homemade dish in the world, also for free. Third, she had those environment-friendly hands, beautifying our house with flowers, plants and trees also for free. Fourth, she was my personal doctor who was alert 24 hours to cure my stomach pain. Fifth, she was the greatest among the sewers here on earth, for she was repairing and adjusting our clothes and dresses without asking for any return. And sixth, Lola was always there ready to listen to my weird stories and imaginations since I was just a little girl. These are just few things Lola did to us beyond her task as a grandmother. These are the memories of our Lola that will surely be treasured forever. Hindi lang ito nakatago, kundi naka-ukit na sa aming puso, at ito’y dadalhin namin hanggang sa kami ay magkita muli sa kaharian ng Diyos :D
