Project Stylista

Every Christmas, it is a family tradition to buy new clothes to wear on Christmas Day. So one month prior to Christmas, our family sets a Christmas shopping date where everybody has to buy something to wear this Holiday season. Unfortunately, I was busy preparing for thesis defense that I was not able to plan ahead on what to wear for Christmas. My mom too was very busy buying gifts, preparing for Noche Buena and decorating the house that she overlooked that it was already few more weeks before the Big Day. And we ended up worrying on what to wear, plus the fact that it was nearing Christmas. To avoid the hassle and stress of thinking of her style this Christmas, I was surprised that my mom entrusted me to pick an outfit for her. Of course the pressure had eventually fallen over me that she might not want my chosen look, or she might not like my fashion taste (knowing that we have a very different style). So I consulted lookbook.nu to guide me in providing an outfit for her. Apparently, the trending item in the thread was a Maxi Skirt like this:

So I tried to find one in thrift shops and bazaars (since it costs 3000-5000 in high-end shops like Zara and Topshop). Unfortunately, I was not able to find any except for a Maxi Pants. It almost looks like the maxi skirt, the only difference was of course, its a pants. My mom already tried a Maxi skirt look but it was in a simple girly peg. So I wanted to try something different, that is also simple, yet chic and edgy. (pardon my descriptive terms, I'm not a professional fashion stylist, nor a hardcore fashionista. I just wear whatever suits my taste.)

So instead of matching the Maxi pants with a girly blouse, I tried it pairing with a graphic tee. I know it's so bagets, but why not? ;) It's better to try something risky, than to stick with the conventional that will eventually bore yourself.

So here it is. MY MOM (aka my new Barbie doll) IN HER HOLIDAY LOOK BY PYA SALVANERA:

If you know my fashion style, you would definitely identify that I was the one who picked out her outfit (Since I'm known in wearing tees with large faces and ribbons). It's risky, simple and edgy. ;)

Meanwhile, I was still stuck on worrying what to wear for Christmas. So I ended up searching for some clothes in my closet and try the magic of mix n matching. I found a plain blue skirt that is one of my favorite basics  and paired it with the usual graphic tee. I also wore a 5-inch blue pumps and a vintage bag to spice up the look. Its Now posted in Lookbook!

So there you have it! My "1st project stylista" this Christmas Season. 'Till my next project, I'll definitely keep you posted! DON'T FORGET TO HYPE MY LOOK!
