Small and Spicy shops in Singapore

I never plan to go out of the country this year but as always, unplanned journeys are the ones that are less likely to be postponed. Just within 2 weeks of booking and preparations, I together with my two friends visited Singapore last week. And it came to be a total blast!

After all, we came to visit SG not because of the famous attractions, but because of catching up the last days of Great Singapore Sale in July. So we almost spent 1 and a half days of out trip shopping in Orchard Ion, Bugis and Vivo City to find the best shopping deals. Meanwhile, I have just observed that the city has a lot of shopping malls that you can find in each MRT station. However, these malls house the most high-end and signature brands that will indeed bring your wallet to a full drain! Despite those malls within your reach, Hong Kong will still be the best place for shopping.

I got tantalized by the make up stores established almost everywhere. In my entire stay, Sephora and Sasa have become my shopping havens for having almost the best makeup and makeup tools for Asians. I feel sorry for Philippines for not having either of these shops. And what's even worse? Even Mariannaud shop was replaced by Forever 21 in Mall of Asia. Too bad.

What I got? A Kabuki brush from Make up Shop, Smudge Blending Brush from Sasa, Base Sublimatrice Primer from Sephora, and Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray for face. I was even trying to purchase Mac Viva Glam by Nicki Minaj but it was sold out in all the Mac stores throughout Singapore.

Moreover, what I love about SG is the communication convenience. People do speak english fluently and you can be easily understood. Plus, you'll never have to get afraid if ever you're lost. Because aside from the locals who are conversant in the default language, the entire city is just a small area and everywhere is reachable by MRT. So tourist should never leave without an MRT map of Singapore.

I don't feel much discrimination in Singapore compared to Hong Kong, maybe because of the hostage incident in 2010 that killed tourists from HK in Quirino Grandstand. Singapore locals are very accommodating, and they even know little Filipino language too!

The climate is almost the same here in Philippines, but you won't get sweat easily. It's very dry and has low humidity compared to PH. So better prepped your face with sunblock and hydration moisturizers! Pack light clothes and take a bath daily :D

I love Singapore. The city is very well-planned and organized. However, I still believe Philippines can be on the same level as SG's, but it'll require a lot of time, local's effort, and full honesty and integrity to use our own resources efficiently. After all, discipline will always be the bottomline to make all things possible!

Check out my next posts during my entire SG getaway!
