Spicy Mind Meets the Biggest and the Smallest in Bohol

If you are an animal-buff, matanglawin, or just a traveller who wants to explore something special in the place you're visiting in, do not forget to include the Bohol Python and Wildlife Park, Tarsier Sanctuary and Butterfly Farm to meet the smallest primate, biggest python in captivity and feel like a diwata with your close encounter with butterflies.

Philippine Tarsier

These species that are commonly found in Southeast Asia are known as one of the smallest primates in the world. Their big eyes, long tails and other characteristics made them commonly mistaken to be included in the family of monkeys, but they scientifically belong to the family of primates.

Bohol was able to establish a sanctuary for Tarsiers by having a place secured for them to breed and by keeping them in a natural shelter populated with nocturnal insects that act as their food.

However, it is now listed as one of the critically endangered species in the world. That's why the sanctuary keepers are maintaining a strict observance for tourists to want to visit them. Unlike before, tourists are not allowed to touch the tarsiers anymore.

Here are the pointers to follow for tourists wo would like to witness these lovely Tarsiers:
1. No flash photography.
2. SILENCE is strictly observed. Tarsiers might get stressed with noisy environment.
3. NEVER TOUCH the Tarsiers. The number of species are getting critical, and it might be bad for them when they are disturbed.

I love this cute little tarsier! Not sure if it is sleepy,
or just not in the mood to strike a pose!

Mom and Dad's Photo Op.

My Spicy Verdict!

Definitely a HOT Spot for me. Lucky are we who belong to this generation; we are still privileged to witness Tarsiers, despite its critically endangered state. We, as caretakers have the big responsibility to preserve and protect these species for the benefit of our future children, and mostly for the benefit of our ecosystem as well.

The Spicy Verdict

HOT SPOT for me! Don't forget to donate something for Prony's food! :)

Butterfly Farm

This place indeed brought nostalgia about my grade school days when I had to memorize the life cycle of a butterfly. At long last, I had witnessed it in reality!

Butterfly caterpillars are not actually itchy.

If they itch us, they will surely grow up as moths.

The Spicy Verdict

It's just bland, since we visited there during off-seasons, when butterflies don't breed much. But I definitely love the place. It's a must visit for first timers. Try to visit during the month of May, as pupae hatch between this period. It will be a hot spot for all tourists who want to feel a diwata spirit!
